Lakadong Turmeric! World’s Best Turmeric!

Dear friends,

So happy to be introducing to you the World’s Best Turmeric!

Lakadong Turmeric

It is native to India, growing in the state of Meghalaya and has a naturally very high curcumin content!
And it’s deep color is so vibrant!

As most of you know by now, curcumin is a compound found in turmeric which has anti-inflammatory qualities that help boost immunity and has a myriad of health benefits!

Truly a Nectar of Life!
It is also very important, in my understanding and through the lens of Ayurveda, that we don’t just isolate the curcumin compound but use it in the totality of its root to get the healing benefits of the full spectrum.

Let real food be medicine, in its purest and fullest form!

So, not all turmeric powders and supplements are created equal or have a high potency! It became a big Industry and created problems in quality.

I am extremely thrilled that my dear friend Radhika Ponda found this rare gem of Lakadong Turmeric, and in a very conscious way supports the farmers and also the way in which the turmeric is dried and processed.

Check out these plant based, easy to make, and delicious recipes I created with this potent Lakadong Turmeric:

1. Sunflower Seed Hummus
Use sunflower seeds instead of chickpeas. Chickpeas are hard to digest and can create digestive imbalances for many people.

serves 4

Ingredients:

2 cups sunflower seeds, soaked overnight in water
1/2 cup sunflower butter
1/2 cup fresh Italian parsley leaves, chopped, set a bit aside for garnish later
1 roasted garlic bulb (see separate recipe)
3 tablespoon olive oil
3 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon Lakadong Turmeric Powder from https://www.mtmerumedicines.com
1 teaspoon dry cumin seeds
1 teaspoon sea salt or more to taste
ground black pepper to taste
6-8 tablespoon warm water
Optional: a bit fresh green chili ….I like a bit of a ‘kick’

Instructions:

  1. Drain the sunflower seeds, rinse and put in a food processor with sunflower butter, Italian parsley, roasted garlic pulp, lemon juice, turmeric, cumin, salt and pepper. If you like a bit of a ‘kick’ add some green chili. Pulse everything till smooth

  2. With the food processor running, drizzle in slowly the olive oil, then pulse again.

  3. While the food processor is still running continue to add warm water, one tablespoon at a time until you reach the consistency you like. You can also add more olive oil.

  4. Garnish with a bit of the chopped parsley.

Serve it with raw sliced vegetables crudites style, with steamed vegetables, crackers, pitta chips or on your sandwich.

2. Golden Milk ~vegan~
